Robert Lee Fitzgerald, 79, of Delmar, passed away Thursday, August 23, 2012 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury. He was born December 21, 1932 in Delmar, a son of the late James Earl Fitzgerald and Gladys Parsons Fitzgerald. Bob proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He worked as manager of Hitchens Auto Supply in Millsboro for over 30 years. He was a member of the Delmar V.F.W. Post 8276, the Salisbury American Legion Post 94, and the Elks Lodge in Seaford. He enjoyed life and loved playing cards and golfing. He is survived by a son, Robert Lee Fitzgerald, II (Donna J.) of Salisbury; a daughter, Charisse Fitzgerald Bounds of Cockeysville; a grandson, Jason Wheatley (Kathleen) of Cockeysville; a sister, Virginia F. Thompson of Delmar; several nieces and nephews; and a faithful companion, his toy poodle, "Baby." In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara K. Fitzgerald; three brothers, Linwood, Richard and Francis Fitzgerald; and a sister, Bertha Brooks. A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 27, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Short Funeral Home, 13 East Grove Street in Delmar, where family and friends may call one hour prior to the service.
