On Saturday, March 2, 2024, Bob lost his battle with cancer. He was born May 3, 1954 to Robert McClellan Davis and Betty Jane Smith of Thurmont, Maryland. He was raised in Thurmont by his loving grandmother, Geneva Marie Davis. Bob leaves behind his wife of 50 years, Anna White Davis; two sons, Robert "Robby" Franklin Davis, Jr. and wife, Barbara of Delmar and Robert "Dale" Franklin and wife, Shelly of Hagerstown; four grandsons, Zack Davis of Virginia Beach, Aaron Davis of Delmar, Nick Franklin and Sam Franklin, both of Hagerstown; a bonus grandson, Steven Jones of Delmar; sisters-in-law, Sue Hurley and Barbara Downes and husband, Alan; a sister, Linda Coblentz and husband, Dave of Thurmont; and brothers, Terry Davis and wife, Missy of Thurmont and Joe Davis of Delmar. Bob has many nieces and nephews that will miss him as well as many friends. Bobby and Louann Delphey of Thurmont and Pat and Gladys Donaway of Salisbury were very dear friends that held a special place in his heart. He was predeceased by his father, his grandmother, and sisters-in-law that he loved to torment, Eva D. Bankard and Twila M. VanVliet. Bob was a man of few words. His favorite quote was "life has no reverse." He was a strong man and you knew right away how he felt about you. His presence in his family's lives will be deeply missed. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Short Funeral Home in Delmar, where a visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 to 11:00. Interment will follow at Springhill Memory Gardens in Hebron. Bob was a simple man, so please dress casual and comfortable, the way he'd remember you.
