Robert Allen Collins, 68, of Delmar, passed away on Friday, August 19, 2016 at his home. He was born on September 2, 1947 in Ridgely, Maryland, a son of the late Robert and Lillian Collins. Robert began his career working with Johnson Logging Company in Easton. Through the years he worked with Bunting & Murray, Teal Construction and Bramble Construction. He loved his family and his church. He attended Bay Shore Community Church in Gumboro and the Gospel Café in Laurel. Fishing and watching baseball were some of his pastimes. He is survived by his wife, Wanda Ann Collins; a son, Neil Collins; step-sons, David Collins and Brian Leutner (Colleen); step-daughters, Jeani Stevens and Teresa Clancey; sisters, Shelby Jean Meek and Sharon Wooters; 8 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Jackie Steeken; and siblings, Troy, George, Roberta, Sandra, and Evelyn. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Short Funeral Home, 13 East Grove Street in Delmar. A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service. Pastor Danny Tice will officiate.
