Robert Abell, 62, of Mardela Springs, Maryland, passed away on October 25, 2026, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was born on October 11, 1964, in White Hall, Maryland.

Robert leaves behind his beloved significant other of over 20 years, Linda Lewis, whom he loved and cherished dearly. He is also survived by Linda’s daughter, Tammy (Ronnie), and granddaughter, Jessica (Josh).

He is survived by his biological mother, Elizabeth Louise Gebhard; his son, Robby Abell; two sisters, Diane Miller of Winnie, Texas, and Kathy Felts of Galax, Virginia; and two brothers, Bobby Lee Freeman of Oklahoma and Zeke Morton of Galax, Virginia.

Robert was preceded in death by his biological father, Estil Freeman; his adoptive parents, Steve and Janet Abell; his brother, Joe Freeman and his sister, Elizabeth Christina Freeman.

Robert was last employed by Bates Moving Company in Hebron, Maryland. Outside of work, he found happiness in spending time outdoors and taking care of his yard. He took great pride in keeping his property looking beautiful and well-maintained, earning many compliments from those who saw it. His love for working outside was a special part of who he was.

Robert will be remembered by those who knew and loved him, especially for the life he shared with Linda and the memories they created together over more than two decades.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Details will be announced when arrangements have been made.

May Robert rest in peace, and may those who loved him find comfort in the memories they will forever cherish.

Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Home in Delmar.
