Rita Marie Hammond Hughes went to the Lord Friday, June 28, 2024 after residing at Manokin Manor in Princess Anne. She was the daughter of the late Edward and Opal Hammond, and was preceded in death by a sister Norma Tatum. Rita is survived by her brother William E. Hammond and wife Ann of Delmar, Delaware, brother-in-law Tom Tatum, and nieces Tracy Beyer and Terry Tatum, nephew J.T. Tatum, as well as longtime family friend, Marilyn Pope of Fruitland, Maryland. Rita graduated from WiHi with the class of 1965 and BCH School of Nursing. She was employed by Peninsula General Hospital (PGH) and Perdue Farms. There will be a memorial mass of Christian burial Saturday, July 6, 2024 at 8:30 am at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Salisbury. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Appalachia Service Project c/o St. Frances deSales, 514 Camden Avenue, Salisbury, Maryland 21801.
