Richard C. Parker, 59, of Delmar, passed away on Friday, July 18, 2014 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. He was born on April 3, 1955 in Red Bank, New Jersey, a son of the late Richard Leon Parker and Joan Hartsgrove. Richard was a longtime employee of Allen Family Foods & Allen's Milling Company from 1979 to 2011. He served in the armed forces during the Vietnam Era, and was a member of the Delmar V.F.W. Post 8276. He was an avid fan of the LSU Tigers, New York Yankees, Jeff Gordon, Giants and the Saints. He is survived by his wife, Laura Jane Parker of Delmar; a daughter, Michelle Parker of Delmar; two brothers, John Parker and Joseph Parker; a step-brother, Ronnie Waters; two half-sisters, Robin Parker and Marlana Roundtree; several nieces and nephew; and a special "daughter," Melissa Ockels and her family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Brian Richard Parker. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at the Delmar V.F.W. 200 West State Street in Delmar. Pastor Joe LeCates will officiate. Interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Delmar V.F.W. Post 8276, 200 W. State Street, Delmar, MD 21875.
