It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Richard Gustav Mletzko, who departed this world on March 9, 2025, at the age of 75. Born on April 25, 1949, in New York, Rich was a son of the late Richard and Emmy Banke Mletzko. Richard, affectionately known as Rich, was the devoted and loving husband of his late wife, Judith Russo-Mletzko for 15 wonderful years. Judy passed in 2015 leaving a hole in his heart for the years to follow. Together, they shared a love for adventure that took them to the magical realms of Disney, where they often found themselves indulging in shows that sparked the inner child in Rich. He was not only a big fan of Disney but also had a passion for the beach, sail boats, playing the guitar and a keen green thumb that blossomed in his love for gardening. Rich is survived by his daughter, Andrea Stene of Pine Bush, NY; two sons, Richard Mletzko of Kingston, NY and Damon Mletzko of East Greenbush, NY; step-daughters, who were like his own, Amy Hacker-Tonkin (Bryan) and Julie Hacker-DiTroia (Michael); and several grandchildren. He was an animal lover at heart, doting on his playful cockatiel, Jasper, and his affectionate Ragdoll cats, Pugsley and Oliver, as well as his loyal dog, Cody. In honor of Rich, a memorial service will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to celebrate his life and legacy. The details of this ceremony will be shared in the coming weeks. Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Home in Delmar, DE.
