Reuben Daniel "R.D." Calder, Sr., of Mardela Springs, Maryland, passed away on Monday, August 26, 2024, at TidalHealth Nanticoke in Seaford. Born on August 23, 1958, in Salisbury, Maryland to the late John Alfred Donovan and Rosemary Dryden Wells. Fondly remembered for his love of hunting and fishing, Reuben was a passionate NASCAR fan, particularly of Dale Earnhardt Sr., and rooted for the Philadelphia Eagles in football and the Baltimore Orioles in baseball. He began his working life on a farm before transitioning to Long Life and Wells Lumber Company, ultimately returning to his roots at Wells Berry Farm where he worked with various local farmers. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Vivian Ann Calder, and children, R. Dan Calder, Jr. (Ashley) and Kelly Elliott (Josh); grandchildren, Reuben Daniel Calder, III, River Chase Calder, Avery Marie Calder, Reed Wyatt Calder, Tina Rosemary Elliott, Tiffany Ann Elliott, Makinzey Elliott and Joshua Jaedon Elliott; and his sister, Cimarron Sexton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Fred Leslie "Butch" Wells; and a sister, Theresa Crockett. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at the Mardela Springs Fire Department, 100 Station Street, Mardela Springs, MD 21837. A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service.
