Regena Schell Midgette, 55, of Delmar, DE passed away January 2nd 2017 at PRMC. Gena was the beloved wife of John G. Midgette IV and devoted mother to her son John G. Midgette V. Gena was born August 24th, 1961, into a large and loving family of 10 children to parents William Wolf Hupke and Mary Elizabeth Hupke, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Billy Hupke. Gena was a 1979 graduate of James M. Bennett High School. Known for always being a hard worker she excelled for many years in the food service industry and enjoyed interacting with her customers. After that she tried a new line of work at U.S. Marine which she took much pride in. She married her best friend and one true love, John in 1988, and welcomed the other love of her life into the world in 1989, her son John. Gena loved life and lived it to the fullest for as long as she could. She always enjoyed being in nature, especially at the beach. Cooking was a passion and came very naturally to her. She was a lover of all animals, most especially her own two cats, Abby and Emma. She deeply connected with all kinds of music, and she liked it loud. The most fulfilling parts of her life were being a wife, mother and homemaker. Left to cherish her memory is a large extended family. Her husband John G. Midgette IV, her son John G. Midgette V and his wife Amanda, sisters Babette Hupke, Cynthia Widdowson (Richard), Andrea Pusey (John), Caren French (Samuel) and Lara Powell; brothers Kevan Hupke, Erich Hupke (Bobbie) and Victor Hupke (Ginny). She also had many special nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Also of special mention is her mother in law June Midgette, sister in law Annette Bradford, and dear friend Chrissy Gilman, who took every measure to keep her comfortable in the final months of her life. A memorial service will be held Monday, January 9th at 7:00 pm at Short Funeral Home in Delmar, DE. A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service.
