Obituary

DELMAR- Rebecca (Becky) B. Phillips of Delmar, DE passed away peacefully at age 81 on Sunday, May 11, 2014. She is survived by her children, Robert Phillips (Mania), John Phillips (Lynn), and Debi Wilkins, grandchildren, Kim Causey (Steve), Tracy Howe (Ned), Rob Phillips (Jennie), Mindy Myrick (Lawton), Jacob Wilkins (Manaia), Michelle Bingham (Jeff), Melissa Neal (Jake), and Barry Phillips, great grandchildren, Hunter, Zach, Siena, Hawkins, Gibson, Baylie, Ryder, Wyatt, Jack, Kate, Luke, Max and Charlie, and special nieces, Dotty, Diane and Denise. She is also survived by several other nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by husband, William (Bill) A. Phillips, son-in-law, Steve Wilkins, parents, Thomas and Ethel Bledsoe, and siblings Beatrice Haigler, Leonard Bledsoe, Josie Brittingham, Ernest Bledsoe, Thomas Bledsoe, Vernon Bledsoe, John Bledsoe, and Arlene Trice. Becky was born on August 21, 1932 in Cape Charles, VA. From 1941 – 1947, during World War II, she lived at the Virginia Baptist Orphanage in Salem, VA with her sister Arlene. She moved to Delmar, MD in 1947, married Bill in 1949 and they were married for 58 years. Becky and Bill shared a passion for fishing and took countless trips to Buxton, NC. She was employed at W. R. Wilson Pants Factory for four years and then enjoyed being a homemaker and raising her children. Becky had many interests. She was an avid reader, gardener and enjoyed working with her hands doing crafts. She was a wonderful cook and talented seamstress. Becky was also a member of the Deborah Heart and Lung Foundation. Becky adored her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She found joy in sending special notes to her great grandchildren each and every month and never missed a sporting event. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Short Funeral Home in Delmar, DE, where family and friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00. Interment will be private at a later date.
