Raymond Earl White, Jr., 89, of Pittsville, died Friday, April 21, 2017 at Atlantic Shores Rehabilitation and Health Center in Millsboro. He was born November 16, 1927 in Pittsville, a son of the late Raymond Earl White, Sr. and Mary Middleton White. Earl's passion was horses. He was around horse racing most of his life and worked as a groom at the Riddle Farm in Berlin. Recently, Gary White named one of his horses, "Whitesville Earl", after him, and it was one of the proudest moments of his life. He attended Friendship United Methodist Church and more recently Ayres United Methodist Church in Pittsville. He was a long time member of the Delmarva Coon Club, the Willards Lions Club and an honorary member of the Pittsville Volunteer Fire Department. He loved helping at the fire department's bingo nights. He also enjoyed the annual trips to the pony penning in Chincoteague. He is survived by a sister, Shirley W. Records and her husband, Richard of Pittsville; a half-brother, Raymond White and his wife, Grace of Pittsville; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a half-sister, Lula Mae Davis. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Short Funeral Home in Delmar, were family and friends may call from 12:00 to 1:00. Pastor Howard Travers will officiate.
