Ray Oval Moore, 78, of Mardela Springs, passed away Friday, February 21, 2014 at his home. He was born on March 13, 1935, in Wingate, Maryland, a son of the late Oval H. and Nina Tall Moore. Ray proudly served his country in the US Army. He was an outdoorsman at heart. He spent many years working as a waterman and enjoyed trapping fox and muskrat. Ray had two very special dogs "Charlie" and "Chip." He also had a large garden from which he sold produce. Ray spent most mornings at Millie's in Vienna, enjoying coffee with a group of his friends. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by three daughters, Jasmine Carroll and her husband Lance of Pocomoke City, Amber Whaley of Delmar, and Raye Hurley Abbott of Bishops Head, Maryland; eight grandchildren, Raegen and Liam Carroll, Roland, Colin, Nicholas, and Lilly Parsons, Devin and Brandon Hurley; former wife, Heidi Moore Glasgow; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Hillston O. Moore, Thomas E. Moore, Shirley E. Wingate, Charles L. Moore, John H. Moore, James W. Moore and Wayne F. Moore and two infant siblings. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Thursday, February 27, 2014, at the Short Funeral Home in Delmar. A funeral service with military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery in Hurlock, Maryland.
