Obituary

DELMAR- Randolph "Randy" James Cooper, 49, died Sunday, June 26, 2016 at his home in Delmar after fighting a brave and courageous battle with cancer. He was born June 16, 1967 in Salisbury, a son of Mary Lou (Bennett) Covington of Delmar and the late J. Kenneth Cooper. He married his high school sweetheart 27 years ago, Ronda Foxwell Cooper, who he had dated since they first met in the 6th grade. Randy graduated from Delmar High with the class of 1985. In his younger days he helped on the family farm. However, he was a gifted carpenter and chose to work several years for Nanticoke Homes and Bow-Mar Millwork building cabinets and countertops. Soon after, he became co-owner and operator of Nanticoke Cabinet and Countertops. Seeking a new challenge, last year he went to work as a sub-contractor under FedEx with Sam Phillips, a job he also enjoyed. He was an avid NASCAR fan who rooted first for Richard Petty then moved on to Carl Edwards. He enjoyed traveling to Dover, Daytona and several other races. He loved the camaraderie and friends he would meet along the way while camping at the various races. He also loved baseball and was a true O's fan. Randy enjoyed spending time with his family and working in his garden and trips to the Harrington slots with a close friend. In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by daughters, Cayla M. Cooper and Amber B. Cooper; brothers, Barry Cooper and Brian Cooper and his wife, Sharon, all of Delmar; step father, Alfred Covington; nephews, Nick Cooper of Delmar, Kory Shiles and his wife, April and their family of Mardela Springs and Dustin Shiles and his wife, Kelly and their family of Mardela Springs; in-laws, Harry Lane and Virginia "Ginny" Foxwell of Delmar; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of close friends. A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 at Short Funeral Home in Delmar, and also Friday from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00, followed by a funeral service to begin at 1:00.
