Ralph David Merrill, Sr., passed away on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at his home in Delmar, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 5, 1937 in Cokesbury, Maryland, a son of the late George and Elsie Merrill. Ralph spent his career working in the poultry industry. Throughout the years he worked for Buyer's Marketing, G&M Sales, and Kingston. He and his wife enjoyed many adventures traveling the country on their Gold Wing motorcycle. He was a member of the United Tour Riders Club and the Delmarva Motorcycle Association. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Willa Faye Merrill; daughters, Carla Parker (Frank), and Donna Hurley (Patrick); grandchildren, April Kerfoot(Rick), Sherry Lewis, Zachary Merrill, Joel Hurley, Frankie Parker, Ashley Hurley, and Alexis Hurley; great grandchildren, Kerrigan and Aidan Kerfoot, Emmaline Lewis, Alexis, Abbigale, Alivia, and Grayson Parker; and an aunt, Dorothy Cox. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Ralph David Merrill, Jr.; and three brothers. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at Short Funeral Home in Delmar. A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service. Pastor Jack Jester will officiate. Interment will follow at Line Church Cemetery in Delmar, Maryland. Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Home in Delmar.
