Obituary

Ralph Morris Long of Delmar passed away peacefully on Monday, December 18, 2023 after a brief stay at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. He was 72 years old. Ralph was born August 6, 1951 in Salisbury, a son of the late Lloyd Thomas Long, Sr. and Mary Emily (Cordrey) Long. Ralph graduated from Wi-Hi and proudly served his country in the USMC from 1971-1975. He was a member of the American Legion Post 64 in Salisbury. He retired after over 40 years working in the construction business for his brother's company, Charles Cordrey Construction. Ralph had an appreciation for the outdoors and made many cherished memories fishing and hunting with Charles. He will be most fondly remembered for his easy-going, laid-back nature and his playful love for his nieces and nephews and children in general. He also had a special place in his heart for cats and his one time best friend, Irish Setter, Morgan, whom he took with him everywhere before his passing. He also had a fondness for harness horse racing and took friends and family with him to the local race tracks He is survived by his best friend and brother, Charles Cordrey; sisters, Shirley Niblett, Charlene Talbott and Brenda Hearn-Parsons; nieces and nephews, Linda Kunowsky, Dana Webster, Shelly Harmon, Charles Edson, Christine Truitt, C.J. Billings, Kevin Billings, Stacy Walker, Donna Hearn and many great nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Friday, December 29, 2023 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 at Short Funeral Home in Delmar, followed by a funeral service which begins at 11:00. Interment with military honors will follow at Salem Methodist Church Cemetery in Pocomoke. Memorial donations may be made in honor of Ralph's love of cats to the Wicomico County Humane Society by visiting https://www.wicomicohumane.org/donate/.
