R. Cleveland Bounds, age 88, of Newark, died Monday, November 19, 2007 at his home in Newark. He was born in Newark on March 20, 1919, a son of the late Rodney Cleveland Bounds, Sr. and Bessie Jones Bounds. Cleveland, as he was fondly known, enjoyed his work on the farm where he spent most of his life. He was a member of the Future Farmers of America and the Worcester County Farm Bureau and a very active, lifetime member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Newark, where he served on the cemetery committee in years past. He was an outdoorsman who loved quail hunting and surf fishing. He and his late wife, Pauline had the honor of hosting the first foreign exchange student in Snow Hill, Brit Bohnsdalen from Norway. He is survived by 2 daughters, Susan E. Bounds of Rockville, MD and Elaine B. Frick and her husband, Joe, of New Smyrna Beach, FL; a son, Paul Bounds and his wife, Nancy of Berlin, MD; 2 grandchildren, Coard Bounds and Anne Marie Bounds; a sister, Doris Shockley and her husband, Curtis of Snow Hill; and 2 brothers, Thomas Bounds and his wife, Mary Louise and Roland Bounds, all of Newark. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Pauline C. Bounds, who passed in 2000, a sister, Hilda Williams, a brother, George Bounds and a sister-in-law, Alta Bounds. A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 23, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church in Newark, where family and friends may call from 2:00 to 3:00. The Reverend Shirley Evans will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, Trinity Garden of Memories.
