Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Peter Nash Hoyt, age 32, of Salisbury, MD, on Thursday, May 29, 2025. Born on January 12, 1993, in Winfield, IL, the husband of Tara Hoyt and father of two beautiful children, Luna and Milo Hoyt. Peter was the son of Norm and Alison Hoyt and brother to Rachel and Emily Hoyt. Peter was a faithful Christ follower and servant of the Lord. A graduate of Rib Lake High School, Peter continued his education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison for a year before transferring to Cairn University in Langhorne, PA, where he earned a bachelor's degree and met his wife, Tara. Peter was a multi-talented man who's down-to-earth personality made him well-loved by all. Peter started his career at Calm Water's and Pretty Bird coffee shop in Pennsylvania where he learned the art of roasting coffee beans and crafting the perfect cup of coffee. Peter's friends joke that he was a coffee snob and never felt confident enough to serve him coffee because of his passion and knowledge about it. Peter thrived in his love of numbers and precision in this role. He then transitioned to a role working at an Organic Food Market where his passions for healthy living and eating aligned. He had the opportunity to work in the field of business, numbers, and trading working for Goldman Sachs and then eventually shifted to a more hands-on career in the field of home inspecting for Pro-Spect Inspection Services, getting to use his skills of being a steady presence relationally for buyers, sellers, and realtors. He drove all over the Eastern Shore getting to know the many back roads in the area. Peter especially loved the views of the water that he would see in the homes along the bay and beaches. Peter wasn't afraid to get in the ice cold water at Fenwick Island in the middle of winter, he challenged himself to his own polar bear plunge, just for fun as his wife and children cheered him on. Peter felt the peace and beauty of being in and around water, whether that was in the lake at camp, the rivers in Wisconsin or the beaches on the Eastern Shore. Peter had a passions for sitting down with a good cup of coffee, playing Sudoku, "insanity workouts" and listening to his Lord of the Rings audio books. He was always at home in the outdoors, kayaking and canoeing, running, skiing, climbing and swimming. Peter was paddling with his father on the Flambeau and Brule River when he just a young child along for the trips his father would lead for their camp ministry at Forest Springs Camp and Conference Center. Wisconsin held a special place in Peter's heart and he especially loved the cold weather and wide open spaces. Music was another of his profound loves; he played drums in the praise band at New Creation Ministries and was involved in the Hold the Line men's ministry. He had a deep love for the band August Burns Red, an eclectic CD collection, and always enjoyed finding new and unique songs to add to his playlist. His favorite place was the Princeton Record Exchange in Princeton, NJ, where he could spend hours at a time finding great music. Peter also had a deep love for dogs, and a special connection and love for his dog, "Otis." Peter will be celebrated as an amazing husband, father, son, brother, and friend to many. He is survived by his beloved spouse, Tara Hoyt; his devoted children, Luna and Milo; his loving parents, Norm and Alison Hoyt; and his cherished sisters, Emily Hoyt and her fiancé, Geoffrey Kemp and Rachel Hovde and husband, Jared; He is survived by his beloved cousins who were like family.
