Peggy Catherine White, 83, of Salisbury, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at the Delmar Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, where she had resided for the past several months. She was born February 17, 1940, in Pittsville, a daughter of the late John Phillips and Beatrice (Baker) Phillips. In her younger days Peggy worked several places, including the Hecht Co., Springhill Nursing Home and Salisbury Nursing Home. She drove a school bus for Wicomico County for 28 years until 2011 when she became a crossing guard before retiring in 2017. Peggy will be remembered for her love for NASCAR and was a big Jeff Gordon fan. She was also a Betty Boop enthusiast and loved bingo, word puzzles and especially loved ice cream. She is survived by daughters, Kim Causey and husband Charlie and Theresa Griffin; grandchildren, Michelle Purcell and husband Matt, Crystal Griffin and George Griffin; great grandchildren, Makenzie, Madyson and Abigail; brother, Wayne Phillips and wife Sharon; sister, Dorothy Hall and husband Ronald; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ronnie White. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, from 10:00 am to 11:00 at Short Funeral Home in Delmar, followed by a funeral service which begins at 11:00. Interment will follow at Forest Grove Cemetery in Parsonsburg. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Delmar Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the love and care given to her during her stay.
