Obituary

Pearl Elizabeth Penuel, 90, went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, July 22, 2018 at the home of her daughter. She was born on January 31, 1928, in Harrington, Delaware to the late Lawrence Dill and Elma Wyatt Burton Brittingham. She felt blessed to have a loving step-father, H. Ray Burton. Mrs. Penuel was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a hard worker and always willing to help others in any way she could. She graduated from Delmar High School and married J. William Penuel. She worked many years for Delmarva Power in the accounting department and was a member of their Vingt Cinq Club. She was a longtime member of Melson United Methodist Church where she served as church treasurer, Sunday school teacher for both adult and children's classes, helped with Vacation Bible School, and was an active member of the United Methodist Women's group. She is survived by her daughter, Vivian E. Lowe and her husband Greg of Delmar, granddaughters, Christina Heck and her husband Andrew of South Bend, Indiana, and Kathy Lowe of Delmar, and great- grandchildren, Emily and Ethan Heck. She is also survived by cousins and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, J. William (Bill) Penuel, a brother, Robert Dill, and a sister, Ada Dill. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 27, 2018, at Short Funeral Home, 13 E. Grove Street, Delmar. A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service. The Reverend John Oltman will officiate. Interment will be in Melson's Cemetery in Delmar. In memory of Mrs. Penuel, contributions may be sent to Melson's United Methodist Church, 32705 Melson Road, Delmar, MD 21875. Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Home in Delmar.
