Pauline E. Jones of Smyrna, DE, died Saturday, July 26, 2014, at Pinnacle Rehabilitation & Health Center. Mrs. Jones was 98 years old. Mrs. Jones was born in Smyrna on October 25, 1915. She was the daughter of the late Wilson Mannon and Emma Carey Mannon. Mrs. Jones was a member of the St. Stephen's United Methodist Church in Delmar, DE, for many years. She lived in Delmar for over 60 years and for twelve years lived with her daughter in Smyrna until moving to Heritage at Dover and later to Pinnacle. Mrs. Jones suffered from asthma for many years, but was a trooper knowing it was a disease that she had to deal with, and she was determined to not complain but to enjoy life. She remained clever and witty with a special sense of humor and a mischievous nature that always brought a smile to family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Gray Jones, in 1986 and a son-in-law, Lt Col Wayne R. Williams in 2001. She is survived by her daughter, Ann J. Williams of Smyrna, DE; two grandsons and daughters-in-law, Chet and Susan Williams of Cockeysville, MD and Darin and Deana Williams of Fruitland, MD; five great grandchildren, Chet Williams, Jr, Taylor Williams, Kayla Williams, Brett Williams and Madison Williams. Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at the Short Funeral Home, 13 E. Grove Street in Delmar. A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service. Reverend Phyllis Walton will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Stephen's Cemetery in Delmar, DE. The family would like to thank the staff at Heritage at Dover for all their kindness and loving attention they gave Pauline while living there. Also, the many years that Dr. Chervenak cared for her and continued treating her at Pinnacle. The staff at Pinnacle took special care of Pauline with gentleness and always encouraged her to enjoy every day. They became like a family to her and showed her love, dignity and respect. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be given to the St. Stephen's United Methodist Church, 100 E. State Street, Delmar, DE 19940.
