LAUREL- Paul H. Sheridan, 77, of Laurel, died Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Thomas Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia. He was born April 24, 1938 at home in Laurel, a son of the late James E. Sheridan and Elizabeth Leggs Sheridan. Paul was a member of the Laurel High School class of 1956. After high school he proudly served his country with the Delaware National Guard for close to ten years. During that time he was in the beginning stages of a 42 year career with C.C. Oliphant & Son Inc. in Laurel, where he held many positions during his time there, including shop foreman and estimator. After his time with Oliphant came to an end he served the Town of Laurel as Alderman for over 20 years. Paul was truly dedicated to serving his community where he held many positions in the Laurel Lions Club, where he was a member for over 40 years. He was very passionate about his work with the Lion's Eye Bank of Delaware Valley and served on the Board for several years. His church, St. Philip's Episcopal Church in Laurel, was equally important to him. He was always willing to serve at St. Philip's whenever there was a need and served on the vestry for many years. Paul was a true family man and lived his life making sure his family was well provided for. He enjoyed golf, was a skilled woodworker and will be remembered for always keeping an immaculate lawn. He also loved his Phillies and enjoyed trips to see them in Florida during several spring training trips. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Judy Owens Sheridan; three children, Ann Hill and her husband, Jeff of Laurel, Mark Sheridan and his wife, Penny of Laurel and Scott Sheridan and his wife, Deb of West Chester, PA; four grandchildren, Ashley Hill Taylor and husband, Brad of Seaford, Heather Sheridan Revel and husband, Toby of Laurel, and Scott and Emilee Sheridan of West Chester; and a brother, Gene R. Sheridan and his wife, Bunny of Laurel. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Franklin Sheridan. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Philip's Episcopal Church, 600 S. Central Avenue in Laurel, where a visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The Reverend Dr. Howard Backus will officiate.
