Paul Adams Myer, Sr. of Delmar passed away on Friday, January 12, 2018 at his home. Born on a farm near Bridgeville to Edwin Saxe and Lorraine Marvil Myer on October 14, 1932, he was the youngest 13 children. He was 85. Mr. Myer played All-State football on high school and enjoyed yearly reunions with his remaining classmates. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and shared many memories of his travels and time spent in the service. He spent his life working with Standardbred horses. At one time, he and his brothers were well known in the industry and raced horses all around the country. When he retired, he enjoyed going to auctions, yard sales, and flea markets. When he was making his rounds, he would often bring back a "special find" for a family member whenever he saw something he thought they would enjoy. He especially enjoyed adding new things to his own many collections. He was preceded in death by his son, Wade; his brothers, Edwin, Jr., James, William, Ellis, Robert, Francis, Alan, and Ralph; and sisters, Dorothy Myer, Esther Meredith, Matilda Kemp, and Lilias Richards. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Frances Hays Myer; daughter, Pamela Schablein and husband, Kevin, of Pittsville; son, Paul A. Myer, Jr., of Delmar; grandchildren, Tuesday Taylor and Jared Schablein; three great grandchildren, Melanie, Lily, and Landon; and many nieces and nephews. Following cremation, a private family service will be held at a later date. Contributions may be in his memory to a charity of your choice. Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Home in Delmar. Online condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.shortfh.com.
