Obituary

Paul E. Hill, age 85, of Delmar, died Tuesday, January 15, 2008, at his home in Delmar. Born in Delmar on July 3, 1922, he was a son of the late William T. and Mary Mitchell Hill. Paul proudly served his country in the US Army from November of 1942, until his discharge as a Corporal in 1945. He had many fond stories of the heavy trucks and ambulances he drove in Italy during World War II. He was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Laurel. He worked as a feed mill attendant at Beacon Milling in Laurel for over 29 years and for the Delaware State Roads for 6 years and retired from Delmar High School in 1987 after 8 years of service. His true passion was fishing, which he enjoyed often with his sister-in-law, Roselee. He is survived by his sister, Doris Bailey of Delmar; 4 sisters-in-law, Rachel Stearns of Greenville, SC, Anna Baker of Delmar, Dorothy Pusey of Laurel and Roselee Ruark of Delmar; and a brother-in-law, Freddie Pusey. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Madeline A. Hill, who passed in 1999, a sister, Evelyn Hearne, who passed in 2004, and 2 brothers, Robert Hill, who passed in 1945 and William "Billy" Hill, who passed in 2005. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 20, 2008 at First Baptist Church of Laurel, 32631 Bi-State Blvd, Laurel, where family and friends may call from 1:00 to 2:00. Pastor Benjamin Beaudoin will officiate. Interment will be held in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Laurel. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to: Delaware Hospice, 20167 Office Circle, Georgetown, DE 19947. Arrangements are being handled by Short Funeral Home, Delmar.
