Obituary

LAUREL- Pastor Steven Lee Booth, 70, of Laurel, died Sunday, March 26, 2017 at his home. He was born December 6, 1946 on Chincoteague Island, a son of the late Roy L. Booth, Sr. and Evelyn Smothers Booth. He graduated from Chincoteague High School with the class of 1965 before proudly serving his country in the Army Reserves for 6 years. Steve worked as a shift supervisor at DuPont in Seaford for 28 years. After leaving Dupont, Steve found a love for woodworking and handcrafted many treasured keepsakes for his family and friends. He loved the outdoors, enjoyed fishing and boating and had a special place in his heart for all dogs. His true passion was helping others and served as pastor of the Laurel Baptist Church for 16 years. Pastor Steve will be remembered as someone who was always there to help when someone had a need and faithfully visited family, friends and church members when they were sick or in the hospital. He absolutely loved being a Pop-Pop and always had a pocket full of candy to share with the kids. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Brenda Booth, who he married August 8, 1964; daughters, Krista Hall and husband, Chad and Stephanie Edwards and husband, Nathaniel, all of Laurel; grandchildren, Megan Pete and husband, Mike, Andrew Parlier, Morgan Edwards, Seth Edwards, Nicholas Edwards and Steven Edwards; great grandchildren, Madison, Colby, Cameron and Carter; brothers, Roy L. Booth, Jr of Virginia, Jerry Booth and wife, Carmen of Texas, Tommy Booth of Virginia and Harry Booth of Virginia; sisters Delores Willis and husband, Mike of Florida and Joyce. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Joan Booth. A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 31, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Short Funeral Home in Delmar, where a visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00. Joseph Delatte, a close friend, will officiate. Interment will be private in a family cemetery in Virginia. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Faith Baptist Church of Delmar, 1207 E.
