Wednesday
Pamela Harmon Harbaugh, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at the age of 81. Born on March 2, 1945, in Salisbury, Maryland, Pamela lived her entire life in Ocean City, Maryland, where she developed a deep affection for the beach and the vibrant community that surrounded her.
Pamela was a proud graduate of Stephen Decatur High School, Class of 1963. She dedicated many years of her professional life as an administrative assistant for the Town of Ocean City, retiring after a remarkable career serving her community. Following her retirement, she found joy in working at the Coastal Hospice Thrift Store in Berlin, where her passion for collecting found a new outlet.
An active member of the Atlantic Methodist Church, Pamela embodied the spirit of community and service, inspired by her parents, who helped establish the American Legion in Ocean City. She enjoyed participating in various events and gatherings that fostered camaraderie and connection. The Fourth of July was her favorite holiday, where family barbecues and walks to the beach to see the fireworks lit up her celebrations with joy.
A self-proclaimed lover of flowers and gardening, Pamela found peace and happiness in her outdoor spaces. Camping was another beloved pastime, with treasured memories made over many years at Treasure Beach in Fenwick. Pamela's heart was always open, especially for animals, as she welcomed numerous dogs into her home over the years.
Pamela cherished her family, particularly her daughters, Kimberly Castle (Michael) and Lisa Tilghman, stepchildren, Renee Waring (Jim) and Robert Harbaugh, Jr., her grandchildren-Michael Castle, Gabrielle Harbaugh, Dani Planter (Delshawn), Amanda Tilghman, and Zachary Waring, and great granddaughter- Addison Rose. She will also be missed by her lifelong dear friends, Ben and Diane Lewis, Libby and Bill Davis, Joann Middleton, and Ruth Hastings.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Don Alfred Everette Harmon and Virginia (Ginny) Stafford Harmon; her husband Robert Harbaugh; and special friends, John Middleton and Carroll Hastings.
Family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate her life at a graveside service at Evergreen Cemetery in Berlin on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at 11:00 AM. She will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered.
In memory of Mrs. Harbaugh, contributions in her memory may be sent to Atlantic Methodist Church, 105 4th Street, Ocean City, MD 21842.
Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Home in Delmar.
