Obituary

Norman Gene "Mickey" Whitelock, 69, of Salisbury, passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury. He was born on September 5, 1946 in Salisbury, a son of the late Norman and Evelyn Whitelock and his step-mother Clara Belle Whitelock who helped raise him after his mother passed away at a young age. Mickey, as he was known by all who loved him, proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He worked for the Campbell Soup Company in Salisbury for 22 years and continued working in sales until retirement. Mickey was a member of the Cross Pointe Church of the Nazarene in Salisbury. He enjoyed many years serving as a Boy Scout Master. His hobbies included hunting and fishing. He was an avid Baltimore Orioles and Dallas Cowboys fan. Over the years, he collected scrap metal, sold Christmas trees and had a produce stand. He is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Linda M. Whitelock; four children, Gene Whitelock (Tammy) of Middletown, Lori Gilliss (Mike) of Orlando, Cheryl Bosley (Jeremy) of Salisbury, and Brian Whitelock (Zara) of Pocomoke; grandchildren, Kathleen (Kevin),Tanner, Alexis and Seth Whitelock, Michael (Heather), Matthew and Madison Gilliss, Brandon and Cole Bosley, Elisha, Adelina, and Luke Whitelock; brothers; Ronnie and David Whitelock; a sister, Susan Flanagan; and several nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Cheryl. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, August 8, 2016 at Short Funeral Home, 13 E. Grove Street in Delmar. A visitation for family and friends will be held two hours prior to the service. Pastors Joel Beiler and Stephen Hause will officiate. A time of fellowship will be held a Cross Pointe Church of the Nazarene immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the National Parkinson Foundation, 200 SE 1st Street, Suite 800, Miami, FL 33131. Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Home.
