Obituary

Norman D. Christopher, 77, of Mardela Springs passed away on Monday, August 15, 2016 at Coastal Hospice At The Lake in Salisbury, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 16, 1939 in Easton, Maryland a son of the late Philip and Esther Christopher. Norman grew up in Hebron, and graduated from Mardela High School in 1957. He was affectionately known by his close friends as "Stormin Norman" and "Little Hoss." He proudly served his country in the US Marine Corps. He was employed for many years at the DuPont Company in Seaford and later worked as a sales representative for Standard Brands. He was an honorary member of the Hebron Fire Company and a member of Nelson's Memorial United Methodist Church and the American Legion Spring Hill Post 237. Norman was an avid fan of NASCAR, loved going to the races, and Richard Petty was his favorite driver. He also enjoyed many years of camping with his family and duck hunting. He will be remembered as a loving father and grandfather who treasured those times spent with family. He is survived by his daughters, Terri Era (Swank) of East New Market, Tami Brown (Harold) of Hebron, and Traci Murphy (Mark) of Rhodesdale; grandchildren, Harold Brown, Clint Murphy, Kevin Brown, Christin Era and her fiancé, Cody Morris, Caleigh Era, and Shelby Murphy; a sister, Dinah Downes (Tom) of Harrington; brother-in-law, Vernon "Bo" Gambrill of Mardela Springs; a sister-in-law, Peggy Hughes (Randall) of Mardela Springs; nieces, Denise Littleton, Danna Cooper, and June Chance and their families who visited frequently; several additional nieces and nephews; and a close friend, Charlie Glasgow of Sharptown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Martha E. Christopher; and a brother, Ronnie Christopher. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, August 21, 2016 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and on Monday, August 22, 2016 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the Short Funeral Home in Delmar. A funeral service will be held on Monday at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Martin Hutchison will officiate. Interment with military honors will be held in Hebron Cemetery. His grandchildren, Harold, Clint, Kevin, Christin, Caleigh, and Shelby will serve as pallbearers. In memory of Mr. Christopher, contributions may be sent to Mardela Springs Fire Department, P.O.
