It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Nancy Brenda Lee (Hearn) Parsons, known affectionately as Brenda, who departed this life on Friday, July 24, 2026, at the age of 64. Born on July 18, 1962, Brenda spent her life in Salisbury, surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Brenda was a dedicated member of the National Guard, serving in the 200th Military Police. She deployed during Operation Desert Storm and served at the Pentagon after 9/11, where she achieved the rank of sergeant over her 22 years of service. Her commitment to her country demonstrated her unwavering strength and resilience.
Brenda dedicated over 40 years of her life to Phillips Dry Cleaners, which later became Admiral Cleaners. Her work ethic was an inspiration to many, and her warm spirit touched the lives of those around her. An avid bingo player, she found joy in the thrill of the game and the camaraderie it brought.
She also had a passion for the outdoors, enjoying crabbing and camping with family at Trap Pond in Laurel. True to her playful nature, she often joked that rain was her camping companion. One of her greatest loves was Christmas; she would eagerly put up her tree and decorate it on December 1st, filling her home with gifts, baked goods, and the spirit of the season. Brenda was a dedicated caregiver who found joy in tending to her garden, especially nurturing her cherished roses. Her passion for flowers embodied her loving spirit and brightened the lives of those around her. Brenda will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for her family.
A devoted mother and sister, Brenda, cherished her family deeply. She leaves behind her beloved daughters, Stacy Walker and Donna Hearn (Thomas Burns), her brother, Charles Cordrey, and sisters, Shirley Niblett and Charlene Talbott. She was a proud grandmother to Madison Thompson (Josh), Alexander Shook, Judas Walker, and Wyatt Walker, and a great-grandmother to Willow, Tobias, and Daniel Thompson, all of whom held a special place in her heart. She will be missed by her nieces and nephews, Charles Edson (Lisa Malta), Christine Truitt (Buddy), C.J. Billings (Danielle), Kevin Billings (Ellie), Shelly Harmon (Kevin), Dana Webster, and Linda Kunowsky (James), and several great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd Thomas Long, Sr and Mary Emily (Cordrey) Long, her husband, Robert D. Parsons, Sr., a brother, Ralph Morris Long, sister-in-law, Bonnie Cordrey, brothers-in-law, Edward Niblett and Gregory Talbott, and a nephew, Donald Webster.
A funeral service will be held in honor of Brenda on Monday, August 3, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Short Funeral Home in Delmar, with a visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. Military Honors will follow the service at Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery in Hurlock.
