DELMAR- Mister Merrill Collins, 57, of Delmar passed away suddenly on Sunday, May 25, 2014 while camping with his Vietnam Vet and Second Brigade brothers and sisters for the VNV Memorial Wall Run. He was born January 11, 1957 in Salisbury, a son of the late George Merrill Collins and Lillian Pearl Collins. Mister proudly served his country in the 82nd Airborne of the US Army during the Vietnam War. He worked as a prototype engineering machinist at K&L Microwave in Salisbury for 18 years. He was an avid motorcyclist and a member of the Vietnam Veterans Motorcycle Club. He was a very talented artist who enjoyed working with oil paintings, drawings and was a tattoo specialist. He was a mentor to many and always made time to help those in need. For many years Mister has been a die-hard Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Beverly Ann (West) Collins; a son, Stevie Mister Collins (Ashley Danielle) of Quantico; 2 grandchildren, Autumn Nicole Truitt and Anthony Lee Truitt; 3 sisters, Brenda Smart (Russell) of Delmar, Cinda Allison (Gary) of Georgetown and Cathy Helgeson (Neil) of Salisbury; and 5 brothers, Jerry Collins (Linda), Buddy Collins (Terry), Gary Collins (Phyllis), Hiram Collins and Zeke Collins, all of Salisbury. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Jessica Collins, who passed in 1996; a sister, Betty Collins; and 2 brothers, George Collins, Jr. and Robert Collins. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Short Funeral Home in Delmar. The family asks that at 2:30 "kickstands up" for procession to his home for a celebration of his life. In lieu of flowers,memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Mister Collins Family Bereavement Fund at Hebron Savings Bank.
