His passion for baseball and softball began at a very young age playing little league and from there to a position on the Mardela High baseball team, followed by many years playing softball in the modified leagues. He earned multiple National 1st Team All-American awards and in 1989 was a member of the ASA National Championship team. One of Milton's proudest accomplishments was his induction into the Maryland Softball Hall of Fame in 2009. In addition to playing, he umpired softball at the high school level for many years throughout Maryland and Delaware and coached various teams. Milton cherished time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren who he absolutely adored. In addition to his mother, he is survived by a daughter, Michele Jones and her husband, John of Delmar; two sons, Kory Shiles and his wife, April of Mardela Springs and Dustin Shiles and his wife, Kelly of Sharptown; three grandchildren, Alexa and Bryce Jones and Kayden Shiles; two sisters, Carolyn Groton and her husband, John of Pace, Florida and Jeannie Lloyd of Delmar; his companion of seven years, Robin Washburn and her grandson, Lukas of Mardela Springs; and three nephews, Richard Lloyd, Chris Lloyd and Ronnie Groton.
