January 15, 1958 – April 23, 2026
Milton James Fisher Jr., age 68, of Delmar, Delaware, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, April 23, 2026. He was born on January 15, 1958, in Lewes, Delaware, a son of the late Milton James Fisher, Sr. and Evelyn Catherine Fisher.
He spent his childhood in Pittsville. Milton, affectionately known as "Jay," dedicated over 32 years of his life to the trucking industry. He began his career driving for BFI Solid Waste, and in 1999, he realized his dream of becoming his own boss by founding M.J.F. Jr. & Son Trucking Co. He took great pride in his work and was known for his unwavering commitment to his craft and the kindness he showed to those around him. It is not enough to say that Jay loved NASCAR, fishing and boating. What Jay really loved was people. He was a man with a huge heart, always willing to lend a helping hand and share whatever he had with those in need. Taking care of others was his true calling.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Beverly Lynn Fisher; his daughter Stephanie Doucet and husband, Ben; grandchildren, Zachary, Brianna, Owen, Colton and Lainey; sister, Etta Mayers; brother, Randolph "Randy" Fisher and wife, Sherry; and nephew, Sean Fisher. Jay leaves behind a legacy of love and generosity that will be cherished by his family and all who knew him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved son, James Edward "Little Jay" Fisher; and a brother, Thomas "Tommy" James Fisher.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, May 3, 2026 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 at Short Funeral Home in Delmar. A reception will follow the service, where everyone can share memories and stories in his remembrance.
