Obituary

Mildred Trader Jackson, 85, of Snow Hill, died Saturday, July 27, 2013 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury. She was born August 20, 1927 in Snow Hill, a daughter of the late Alpha G. Trader and Pauline Miller Trader. Mildred retired after many years of service as the kitchen manager at the Snow Hill Elementary School. Her life revolved around her church, the Snow Hill Church of Christ, where she unselfishly served wherever she was needed, including serving as pianist for many years, teaching Sunday School and assisting with Vacation Bible School. She also served her community in many other ways including prison and nursing home ministries and played the piano for the MAC center. She was very talented with her handiwork and crocheted afghans for all of her family and many friends. She is survived by her son, Danny Jackson and his wife, Patti of Snow Hill; 5 grandchildren, Rob Benak and his wife, Leah of Wincoat, PA, Rachel Meadows of Snow Hill, Heather Jackson of Snow Hill, Caleb Jackson of Hebron and Ryan Benak of Hyndman, PA; 7 great grandchildren, Maddie, Haley, Harley, Brooklyn, Molly, Dominic and Siena; a brother, David Trader and his wife, Janet of Snow Hill; and a sister-in-law, Ruth Smith. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie L. Jackson, who passed in 1995; a brother, Joseph Trader; and 2 sisters, Esther Shockley and Ruth Trader. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Snow Hill Church of Christ, where family and friends may call from 1:00 to 2:00. Interment will follow at Whatcoat Cemetery in Snow Hill. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Snow Hill Church of Christ, 4848 Washington Street, Snow Hill, MD 21863.
