Michael Ray Simon, 58, of Laurel, died Saturday, March 14, 2015 at his home. He was born December 12, 1956 in Salisbury, a son of the late George P. Simon and Barbara J. Simon. Mike graduated from Delmar High School before earning his degree at Salisbury University. Growing up, he was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Delmar. He was an avid Yankees fan, loved Notre Dame football and was a long time NASCAR buff. His love for travel led him to a career as an over the road truck driver. He enjoyed seeing the country and especially loved his trips to the mountains. He is survived by a daughter, Ashley Simon of Frederick; a son, Michael R. Simon, Jr. of New Hampshire; two brothers, Paul G. Simon and his wife, Cherie of Salisbury and Bruce S. Simon of Laurel; two nieces, Chelsea and Allyson Simon; and former wives, Kathy Simon of Salisbury and Debbie Haywood of Tennessee. A graveside memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at Springhill Memory Gardens in Hebron.
