LAUREL- Thursday, September 22nd, the Lord gently blew out the bright, shining light that was Michael Blair Wilkins, reached out his hand, and said, "Come home." Born November 30, 1970 he shone brightly from the beginning, his personality friendly, generous, and sometimes mischievous. Mickey always had time to talk, to lend a helping hand, and he knew no enemy. Mickey graduated Laurel High School in 1989, and, since no moss grows on a rolling stone, he immediately set to work as a welder, a roofer, and a construction worker before settling where he was meant to be, in 1998, working as custodial caregiver at Delmar High School. He was content and happy, thrived, and eighteen years later he has left a multitude of souls who will miss "Mr. Mick" every day. Mickey loved cutting grass at home, at school, and for those in need. He loved Dale Earnhardt, go-cart racing, crabbing and bull frogging with his buddy, Shawn Wingate. He loved spinning a good yarn and holding court. He loved his chickens, rabbits, his dog, and his cat, but mostly he loved his family. Mickey was a wonderful son, husband, father, brother, grandfather, and uncle, the old school kind of man who stepped up and took care of all to the very best of his abilities. Until they meet again, he leaves behind his wife, Beth Wilkins (Laurel); son Michael Elisha Wilkins (Laurel); mother and father, Jo Ann and Michael Wilkins (Laurel); sister Robin and husband Neil Sinnott (Oregon); nieces Autumn and Maggie; Son Kevin Seefried (Wilmington); Daughter Elysia Seefried; granddaughters Klarissa and Jade; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who loved him very much. Not to be forgotten is one very special little dog, Buck Oliver. Although Mickey's light no longer shines here on Earth, while he was here, he made all of our lives a little brighter. Let his memory shine on in all of our hearts. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Delmar High School, 200 N. 8th Street, Delmar, followed by a celebration of Mickey's life, which begins at 12:00. Pastors Bryant Elzey, Beth Elzey and John Oltman will officiate. Interment will follow at Melson's Cemetery in Delmar.
