It is with heavy hearts yet joyful spirits that we celebrate the life of Michael A. Kaniecki, who departed from us unexpectedly at his home in Laurel on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at the age of 61. Born on June 19, 1964, in Baltimore, MD, Mike was a son of the late Marguerite Cathleen (Hiebler) Kaniecki and Stanley Russell Kaniecki, Sr. His journey began in a vibrant and lively city that shaped his love for sports and deep-seated loyalty to his favorite teams, particularly the Baltimore Orioles and Ravens. A proud graduate of Loyola High School, class of 1982, Mike exhibited a tremendous passion for basketball in his youth, showcasing his athletic talent on the court. This love for sports transitioned into a lifelong devotion to celebrating the joy and camaraderie they brought him and those around him. Mike's enthusiasm for life was infectious, and one of his favorite activities was cooking and sharing his creations especially around holidays with family and friends. He embraced his role as uncle with enthusiasm and love, spending time with his nieces and nephews at the beach, and playing any kind of sport or games with them. Mike also had an affinity for creatures big and small and took in and cared for many pets throughout the years. Above all, Mike will be remembered for his unwavering love for family. He was a devoted brother to Stanley "Butch", Jacqueline , and Michelle. His heartfelt connection to his family extended to his nieces and nephews, who were the shining lights of his life. Michael was truly a big kid at heart, which was obvious when making memories with his nieces and nephews. At his request there will be no formal services but please remember Mike's family during these difficult days. Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Home in Delmar.
