Michael L. Hunter, 64, of Delmar passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2023 at his home. He was born on September 22, 1958 in Portsmouth, Virginia, the son of the late Frances Ida (Estep) Hunter and Linwood Hunter, Jr. Mike retired from the Wicomico County Detention Center as the Chief Investigator after 20 years of service. He will be remembered as a wonderful cook. Mike loved to use his smoker and grill. He also loved cooking for his family. He was a skilled woodworker, and his family will treasure the many thoughtful creations that he made for them over the last several years. In his early years, he was an avid fisherman and deer hunter. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Lisa Hunter; his children, Michael, Kristen, and Lynda (and their spouses); six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a special granddaughter, Kayla who was the light of his life. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Connie Sue Robertson. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, February 6, 2023 at Short Funeral Home in Delmar. A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Smith Mills Cemetery in Delmar.
