Obituary

Michael A. Beck, Sr., 76, of Salisbury, passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2019 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury. He was born on July 14, 1942 in Baltimore, Maryland, a son of the late James Beck and Barbara A. Boatwright and step-father, Fred Boatwright who helped raise him. Michael was a proud US Navy veteran and a member of the American Legion. His career as a welder spanned over many years, and he was proud to be a part of the construction of the Bay Bridge. Many people met "Mike" in Ocean City, MD, where he spent many years residing and maintaining Deja Vu Cottages. He enjoyed eating fresh seafood and when he could he loved to go clamming, fishing or crabbing with his family. Anyone who knew Mike, also knows that he was a Maryland sports fanatic, always rooting for the Ravens, O's, or the Terps. He is survived by his son, Michael A. Beck, Jr. (Jenny) of Salisbury; grandchildren, Ellery, Bryce and Parker Beck; sisters, Bernice Bauer, Lucille Ey, Helen "Jo" Marks, and Tobie Layton Steiniger; a special niece, Debi Jordan; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 15, 2019 at Salisbury Bible Fellowship, 1500 Court Plaza Lane, Salisbury, MD. A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service. In memory of Mr. Beck memorial contributions may be sent to Coastal Hospice or Wicomico Nursing Home. The family would like to warmly thank all who cared for Mr. Beck before his passing. Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Home in Delmar.
