Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Mervin "Butch" Russell Pusey, born on April 20, 1945, in Salisbury, Maryland, a son of the late Elwood Russell Pusey and Lillian Maewood (Brittingham) Pusey. Butch departed from this world on Friday, November 1, 2024, at his residence in Snow Hill, Maryland, surrounded by his loving family. Butch spent his life dedicated to farming and his beloved family. Butch cherished his career as a lifelong farmer, working alongside his brother-in-law, Roger Richardson, for many years in the fields of Worcester County. He was past member of the Snow Hill Fire Department and the Worcester County Farm Bureau. His compassionate nature shone through as he frequently lent a helping hand to those in need, always ready to offer support wherever it was needed. An avid lover of the outdoors, Butch found solace in hunting and relished the thrill of riding his motorcycle in his younger days. His family will fondly remember his infectious sense of humor and his penchant for Diet Coke, Nutty Buddies, and lightly salted potato chips. Butch's abiding passion for farming and his unwavering devotion to his family will forever be etched in the memories of those who had the pleasure of knowing him. He is survived by his loving daughter, Heidi Pusey, and his son, Anthony Pusey. His legacy continues with his adored grandchildren: Paige Pusey, Alyssa Jackson (Ryan), Lily Morgan, Ian Pusey (Caitlyn), and Gavin Pusey. Additionally, he leaves behind his dear sisters, Fay Richardson (Roger), Nancy Fisher (Paige), Connie Wessells (Charles), and Alice "Cookie" Carlson. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews; and his beloved grand-dog, "Princess." In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 34 years, Susan Faye (Lewis) Pusey, who passed in 2001; and his in-laws, Arthur and Velma Lewis. In honor of Butch's life and legacy, a visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30, and also on Thursday from 10:00 to 11:00, at the Short Funeral Home in Delmar, where funeral services will begin on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Bruce Bowden will officiate.
