Melissa Sue Kohler, 40, of Hebron, died suddenly at her home on Wednesday, January 28, 2009. She was born in Salisbury, a daughter of John Robert Elias, Sr. and Anna Leah (Powell) Elias of Quantico. For over 20 years Melissa owned and operated Beary Lovable Childcare in Hebron and cherished her work as a daycare provider. Her daycare children were her life. Melissa loved her trips to Lancaster to visit the Amish and admired their way of life. She was a member of the American Pool Players Association and enjoyed playing cards. As an avid NASCAR fan, she faithfully rooted for Steve Park and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. She was also an NHRA Drag Racing fan as well, following John Force, her favorite driver. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her beloved husband of twenty years, Karl Kohler; two sons, Karl Kohler, II and Kevin Kohler; a sister, G. Lynne Jones and her husband, Randy of Salisbury; two brothers, Ira Paul Elias and his wife, Janice of Princess Anne and John Robert Elias, Jr. and his long time girlfriend, Tina Alexander of Delmar; her father-in-law, George Kohler of Hebron; a sister-in-law, Lynn Smith of Baltimore; and her beloved dog, "Pooh Bear". She is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends. Her mother-in-law, Carole Ann Kohler, preceded her in death. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 1, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at Short Funeral Home, 13 E. Grove Street, Delmar. The Reverend Robert "Buzz" Gregory will officiate.
