Maximillian "Lucky" Lucksho, Jr., 80, of Delmar, died Saturday, February 11, 2012 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. He was born September 17, 1931 in New York City, a son of the late Maximillian and Helen Lucksho. Known as "Lucky" to friends and family, he spent his early years in New York City where he had a fondness for bakeries and cookie factories. At the age of 12 his family moved to the farm on Gordy Mill Road in Delmar. Not being a farmer, he entered the military and proudly served his country with the US Air Force during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He had a combined 43 years of service time, including reserved duty. After active duty he returned to Delmar, married and had 5 children that he loved. He worked as a police officer and in special operations for the Salisbury City Police Department where he truly enjoyed serving others for 27 years. He was a member of the Military Officers Association of America, the American Legion and the Non Commissioned Officers Club. He was also an active member of the Confederation of International Officers Reserve Association where he enjoyed traveling to many faraway places as he acted as an Ambassador for the NATO countries. Traveling with his wife by his side was his true passion and he loved the many places he would go and people he would meet along the way. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Chandra "Candy" Lucksho; 3 children; 4 grandchildren; 1 great grandson; and a sister. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 sons. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Short Funeral Home, Delmar, where family and friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00.
