MaryAnn "Molly" Henson, 68, of Laurel, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Thursday, August 27, 2015. She was born on September 9, 1946 in Scranton, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Edward & Mary Griswold. Molly was a 1964 graduate of Chenango Valley High School in New York. She began her career in 1966 for A.C. Spear Electric & Arrow Improvements, Inc. in Binghamton, NY before moving to the Eastern Shore of MD & DE in the 70's. It was there that she settled down and worked for several years as a bookkeeper for General Television, Hubert R. White Hardware, John Routenberg, M.D. & Peninsula Periodontics & Orthodontics. She was also employed as Town Clerk for the Town of Sharptown, MD. It was her employment at C.C. Oliphant in Laurel, DE that meant the most during her working career as she became very close to her co-workers and thought of each of them as family. Molly always had a knack for interior decorating and designing floral arrangements. She created several masterpieces for weddings of family and friends over the years. Her outgoing sense of humor and her caring heart left a mark on everyone she met. She will be truly missed by many. She is survived by a daughter, Heather Chandler and her husband, Eric of Sharptown, MD ; a son, Timothy Collins and his wife, Judy of Binghamton, NY; five grandchildren, Nick, Zack, Makenzi, Brianna, and Cameron; a brother, Edward Griswold and his wife, Elmira of Sierra Vista, AZ; Christina Spence of Sharptown , who was like a daughter; and Kathryn Morrison of Bridgeville, who was like a granddaughter; two best friends, Alice Bennett of Hurlock, MD and Sandra Lainhart of Conklin, NY; and two nieces. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Tammy Henson. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at Short Funeral Home, 13 East Grove Street in Delmar. A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service. Pastor Marilyn Searcey will officiate.
