Obituary

DELMAR- With great sadness we share the news that our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Mary A. Weed, passed away on Monday, May 28, 2018 in her sleep at the age of 81. Mary was born in Watertown, Massachusetts in 1936 and grew up in Newton, Massachusetts. She proudly earned her G.E.D. in the mid-1990s at the encouragement of her children and grandchildren. She worked for Boscov's for 15 years before she retired. Mary was an avid reader and a faithful fan of the Bigfoot legend. She was also a faithful fan of the Dallas Cowboys and a lover of Jesus. She also loved to visit her old friends at Boscov's. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Harold L. Weed, Jr.; her parents, William F. Sullivan and Beatrice Remigio; a step-father, Joseph A. Remigio; two sisters, Joan Terasi and Nancy Maloney; and her brother, William F. Sullivan, Jr. Surviving are her children, Annie Adkins (Bill) and Doreen Campbell (Jerry), all of Laurel, DE, Tricia Johnson (Dave) of Delmar, DE, Harold L. Weed Jr. II (Judy) of Delmar, MD, Robert Weed (Patti) of Milton, DE, Bonnie Spadin (Eric) of Princess Anne, MD and Bernadette Lawson (Jeff) of Fruitland, MD; 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. In addition, Mary is survived by three sisters-in-law, Joan Nasko of Billings, MT, Leonora Beach of Salida, CO, and Sueko "Amy" Sullivan of Converse, TX; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, June 4 at 11:00 a.m. at Short Funeral Home in Delmar, where a visitation will be held on Sunday, June 3, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., and also on Monday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Stephen's Cemetery in Delmar. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions honoring her life can be made to Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963. Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Home of Delmar.
