Mary Ann Ross, 69, of Delmar, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Saturday, December 23, 2023. Mary Ann was born October 23, 1954, in Wilmington, DE, a daughter of the late Earl and Margaret (Dieghan) Handlin. She spent her younger years in Wilmington and attended Wilmington High School. In those early years she met David (Dave) Ross. They married and moved to Delmar, DE where they raised their family and recently celebrated their 50-year anniversary. Mary Ann retired after over 22 years of service working as a mail carrier for the USPS in Delmar, a job she truly loved. She attended Mass at St. Francis de Sales and Holy Redeemer Churches. She enjoyed attending concerts with her sisters and vacationing in the Outer Banks with her family. She was an avid Philadelphia sports fan who enjoyed trips to Flyers and Phillies games. She especially loved making her favorite dishes and snacks while gathering at home with family and friends to watch the Eagles play. When Mary Ann had free time she could be found with a good book or puzzle, or in her swimming pool. She will be remembered fondly as a patient, caring and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her husband, David Anthony Ross; sons, Brian A. Ross (Tara) and Anthony F. Ross (Shay); grandchildren, Justin, Ryan, Sarah, Nolan and Adam; sisters, Helen Handlin, Nancy Delpederis and Sue Handlin; sister-in-law, Jeanette Kelley (Tom); and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Michael Handlin, Tom Handlin, Andy Handlin and Rob Handlin.
