GIRDLETREE- Mary Paradee Ingersoll, 98, of Girdletree, died Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury. She was born in Franklin, Virginia on May 5, 1914, a daughter of the late John R. and Susan Frances Paradee. For many years Mary and her late husband, Avery, owned and operated Ingersoll's Market in Snow Hill. She was a life-long member of Girdletree United Methodist Church. During her time there she was very active serving in various capacities and enjoyed her membership in the UMW group. After the Girdletree church closed she transferred her membership to Remson United Methodist Church. She was a member of Girdletree VFD Ladies Auxiliary. She treasured time spent with her family and was an excellent cook who enjoyed family dinners and get togethers. She was also very handy with her hands and loved crafts and sewing. She is survived by twin daughters, Ann Ingersoll Jones and her husband, Jack and Joyce Ingersoll Shockley and her husband. Ralph, all of Snow Hill; 5 grandchildren, John "Jack" W. Ingersoll, Jr. and his friend, Marie, Beth Shockley Lynch and her husband, Jere, Chip Shockley and his wife, Shawna, Johnna Beauchamp and her husband, Scot and Annette Powell and her husband, Buster; and 10 great grandchildren, Kyle, Rachel, and Blaire Lynch, Logan and Levi Shockley, Paige and Kate Beauchamp, Lindsey and Hunter Powell and Justin Ingersoll; she is also survived by several cousins and special caregivers, Elsie Purnell, Josephine Snead and Carol Hales. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband. Avery W. Ingersoll, who passed in 1995; a son, John "Jack" W. Ingersoll; and a brother, John Roger Paradee. A graveside funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Springhill Cemetery in Girdletree. The Reverend Sumner Jones will officiate.
