Martha B. DeLong, 79, of Salisbury, passed away on Friday, July 1, 2016 at Salisbury Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 28, 1936 in Beaver, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late Hiram and Martha Balser. Martha cherished spending time with her children and grandchildren and was a wonderful caretaker. She enjoyed going shopping and out to dinner with Darlene and Marlene. Her family and her faith were very important to her. She enjoyed attending the Laughing Ladies in Hebron, making jewelry, and doing crafts and puzzles. She is survived by her daughters, Marlene Sholley (Glenn) of Lincoln, De, and Darlene Sholley of Hebron; step-sons, Gregory DeLong (Mona) of Texas, and Michael DeLong of Florida; a step-daughter, Denise DeLong (Steve) of Florida; a brother-in-law, John Winner of Texas; grandchildren, Susie, Corey, Michael, Stacy, Hannah, Joseph, Emily, James, and Jared; and 11 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald "Mickey" DeLong; a son, Howard James Hartsuff; a grandson, Donald Swain; a son-in-law, Gary Sholley; and a sister, Eleanor Winner. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at Short Funeral Home, 13 E. Grove Street in Delmar. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. The Reverend Ernie Bailey will officiate. A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. at Henlopen Memorial Park, 28787 Lockerman Road, Milton, DE.
