Marie Elizabeth Wheatley, 87, of Tyaskin, passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at PRMC in Salisbury, Maryland. She was a daughter of the late George Riley and Elsie Marie Andrews. Mrs. Wheatley retired from the Holly Center in Salisbury after 16 years of service. She was a member of the Eastern Star Ada Chapter in Delmar. She will be remembered as a wonderful mother and grandmother. She had a giving heart and was always ready to take care of others. She is survived by a son, Larry Hughes; two daughters, Linda Powell and Deborah Hughes; grandchildren, Brad Lewis, Shawn Powell (Christine), and Shelley Wilson; great grandchildren, Shauna Pettyjohn (Josh), Denay Lucas, Ariana Lucas, Darrian Lucas, Ashton Lucas, Savannah Lewis, Zachary Powell, William Davis, and Ethan Wilson; great-great grandchildren, Taliah Brown and Desmond Brown, Jr.; a brother, George Andrews; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Buddy. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Howard T. Wheatley; a granddaughter, Angela Lucas; great grandson, Brody Lewis; and five siblings. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 20, 2017 at Bivalve United Methodist Church Cemetery. The Reverend Howard Travers will officiate.
