Marie Ellen Hovatter, a loving mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 2, 2026, at the age of 95. Born on March 19, 1930, in Salisbury, MD, Marie spent her life devoted to her family and home. Marie's warmth and generosity touched everyone around her, and her legacy will live on through her family and the memories she created with each of them as a wonderful mom and grandmother. Marie had a passion for reading, often found lost in the pages of a good book, and she was known for her incredible culinary skills, delighting family and friends with her delicious meals. She is survived by her children, Russell Hovatter (Darlene), David Hovatter (Carol), Harold Ray Hovatter, Jr. (Cathy), and Donald Hovatter (Rebecca), 14 grandchildren, and many great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Hilda Jones, her husband, Harold Ray Hovatter, Sr., her son, Walter Hovatter, and her daughter, Phyllis Ennis. In honoring her wishes, there will be no formal funeral services. Those who knew Marie are encouraged to remember her through a shared story or a fond memory.
