Marian M. Smack, 72, devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister, died Sunday, October 25, 2009 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. Marian was born July 18, 1937 in Crisfield, a daughter of the late George Marshall and Gladys (Evans) Marshall. Many years ago she worked as a seamstress for various garment companies. As she enjoyed people, she worked as a waitress for many years at some of the areas more notable restaurants, such as Johnny & Sammy's and the English Grill. Her family was always at the top of her list, and she treasured the memories made with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved scrapbooking, collecting angels and gospel music, especially the music of Ivan Parker. She was always very supportive of St. John's United Methodist Church in Fruitland. She is survived by three beloved children, Roland Somers and his wife, Carol of Fruitland, Anna Davis and her husband, Gary, Sr. of Salisbury, and Linwood Smack, Jr. and his wife, Michelle of Allen; eleven grandchildren, Jr., Gary Jr., Alicia, Michelle, Ed, Orlando, Shelby, Courtney, Scarlett, Hunter and Alan; thirteen great grandchildren; and a sister, Amanda Reed and her husband, Ronnie of Onancock, VA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Maurice Marshall; a grandson, Petey Boy; and a nephew, B.F. Denston. A funeral service will be held Friday, October 30, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Short Funeral Home, 13 E. Grove Street, Delmar, where family and friends may call from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow the services at Powellville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be sent to the family.
