Margie Ann Phoebus of Salisbury, passed away on Monday, March 6, 2017 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. She was born on July 4th, 1939 in Chester, PA, daughter of the late William Charles Hofmann and Blanche Hofmann Harrington. Margie worked at the Shore Stop in Hebron for many years. She loved going to the beach, road trips to PA, spending time with her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Margie loved animals, cats especially. She was always giving of herself to helping others. She is survived by two sons, William Bennett (Cristi) of Galestown, and Brian Phoebus (Linda) of Princess Anne; sisters, Betty Cooper of Mt. Vernon, Trish Layton (Jimmy) of Salisbury, and Doodie Davis of Preston; brother, Bud Harrington of Salisbury; grandchildren, Crystal Johnson of Hebron, Clayton Bennett of Hebron, Jason Bennett of Laurel, Katie Bowen of Georgetown, Jessica Phoebus of Fruitland; nine great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and her dear companion, Arthur "AJ" Forget. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandmother, Marcia Bethard; grandfather, King Bethard; step-father, Elton (Pat) Harrington; step-mother, Bessie Hofmann; brother, Barry Harrington; sister-in-law; Sharon Harrington; brother-in-law, Donald Cooper; and a grandson, Robert James Bennett. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Short Funeral Home, 13 East Grove Street in Delmar, DE. A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service. Ron Rice, a family friend, will officiate. Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Home.
