DELMAR- Margarett Kathline "Kathy" Ellis, 84, of Delmar, died Thursday, July 18, 2013 at Wicomico Nursing Home in Salisbury. She was born November 14, 1928 in Trion, Georgia, a daughter of the late Edward Barrett and Bertha Chloe (Barnes) Barrett. Kathy, as she was known by all who loved her, worked through the years in Salisbury as a clerk at Edgehill Pharmacy and Phillips Cleaners and retired from Delmar Elementary School, where she worked many years in the cafeteria. She was a long time, active member of First Baptist Church of Delmar, where she was a former member of the choir and the Women's Missionary Union. She was a wonderful cook who loved to make chicken and dumplings, coconut cakes and banana puddings for family and friends. Her passion was taking care of her family and her home and she always looked forward to family outings and gatherings. She is survived by her husband of almost 52 years, Marion F. "Bud" Ellis; 2 sons, Mike Ellis and his wife, Peggy of Laurel and Jeffrey Ellis and his wife, Colleen of Delmar; a grandson, Michael Troy Ellis and his wife, Ashley of Cambridge; 2 great grandsons, Michael Bradey Ellis and Noah Harrison Ellis; a sister, Evelyn Spradlin and her husband, JC of Georgia; and 2 special cousins, who were like brothers and sisters to her, Bobbie MacArthur and Jr. Barnes and his wife, Naomi, all of Georgia. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 22, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Delmar, where family and friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00. The Reverends Barry Devine and James Riddle will officiate. Interment will follow the services at Riverside Cemetery in Libertytown.
